Notts County given another reprieve by High Court with sale ‘days away’
Notts County have today been granted a third extension to give its owner more time to pay a tax bill.
Facing a winding-up petition at the High Court this morning, a judge said Alan Hardy would get another three weeks to pay the outstanding fees.
It has been reported by Nottinghamshire Live that Notts had originally applied for a two week extension.
Hardy hopes to conclude a sale of the Magpies – thought to be to a Danish consortium. It has also emerged that during the hearing the group had passed the FA’s fit and proper owners test.
The winding-up petition brought forward by HMRC for unpaid tax bills will now be heard on July 31.
Hardy put the Magpies up for a sale in January, but had failed to conclude a deal for today’s deadline. He wasn’t in the courtroom to hear the news; Notts were represented by Hilary Stonefrost.
