First phase of £450m residential scheme submitted for planning

The first phase of a £450m residential development near Leicester has been submitted for planning approval.

The Thorpebury scheme would see 600 homes delivered in the first phase as part of the ambition of ultimately building 4,500 homes and 13 hectares of employment land.

Outline planning permission has previously been granted with the scheme art of Charnwood Borough Council’s adopted Local Plan for 2011 to 2028.

CEG, Davidsons, William Davis Homes and David Wilson Homes will work together to deliver the first phase of the site, with is close to Thurmaston and Hamilton, about four miles north-east of Leicester city centre.

David Hodgson, head of strategic development at CEG, said: “We have selected three high quality housing partners to deliver the first phase, to ensure an exemplary and characterful development.

“This will help to deliver a wide range of much-needed new homes in the area, as well as opening up around 30 acres of new green spaces for sports and informal recreation.”

The application for the first phase, known as Thorpebury-in-the-Limes, has been put forward to Charnwood Borough Council.

It provides a mix of two to five-bedroom homes and includes some affordable homes.
