Nottingham funeral director snaps up counterpart

Nottingham-based undertakers AW Lymn The Family Funeral Service has bought Rainworth funeral director JW Hutchinson.

JW Hutchinson was established in 1904 and has been passed down through four generations.

Matthew Lymn Rose said: “A.W.Lymn The Family Funeral Service are thrilled to have been able to acquire JW Hutchinson Funeral Service in Rainworth. As another family business, having served the people of Rainworth for generations, we felt the fit between the two businesses was excellent.

“In the first ten months we have had a complete refurbishment of the premises, the two full time staff members Wendy and David continue to work in the business based at the Rainworth office, and both have enrolled onto the National Association of Funeral Directors Diploma in Funeral Directing course to enhance their qualifications, and the fleet have been updated with a Rolls-Royce ceremonial fleet in keeping with the original vehicles operated by the family firm.”

Shorts and Keebles advised on the sale.

Andy Ryder, corporate finance partner with Shorts, said: “We are delighted to have advised Alison and Anthony on the successful completion of this transaction, and we look forward to seeing the continuing success of the business under new ownership.”

Corporate Partner at Keebles, Paul Trudgill, said: “It is always pleasing when a transaction takes place between two parties that know each other well and have the best interests of the business at heart. Our clients are confident their former customers and staff are in safe hands.”
