On the Move: The latest East Midlands hires

Chattertons Solicitors & Wealth Management, which has eight branches across the county and in Nottinghamshire, has promoted three members of the team at ts Boston office to partner.

Solicitors Grant Shackleston and Emma Todd and independent financial adviser Scott Wiseman are settling into their new roles.

Shackleston joined Chattertons in 2017 having previously worked in Spalding for more than 20 years. He has extensive experience in dispute resolution, employment law, personal injury, regulatory defence work and licensing. He is also a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Todd undertook her training with Chattertons and qualified as a solicitor in 2016. She is a member of the private client team and advises clients on matters including wills, lasting powers of attorney, probate and trusts.

Wiseman started at Chattertons at the beginning of 2018. He provides investment, pension and inheritance tax advice to his clients.

Derbyshire financial planner Jillian Thomas has been appointed to the Business Growth Board of D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

The advisory board is made up of representatives from the public, private and third sectors, including from local councils, universities, the Federation of Small Businesses, the British Business Bank, Rolls Royce and the CBI.

D2N2 LEP, which covers Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, is a partnership between the public sector and businesses which plays a central role in deciding local economic priorities and undertaking activities to drive economic growth and create jobs.

Thomas, who is the managing director of Future Life Wealth Management based in Renishaw, said: “I am delighted to join this influential organisation at such an important time. I moved to Derbyshire as a child and have lived in, and loved, the area ever since. I have championed the region both through my profession and through my civic roles.

“I am keen to do my bit to help grow the prosperity of the area and I know that the LEP is doing some really important work.”

Thomas is a former president of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and governor of Chesterfield College, and a current patron of East Midlands Chamber of Commerce.

Her company offers a bespoke financial planning service to generators and receivers of wealth. It has been listed in the New Model Advisor Top 100, a national list of the top financial planners, every year since 2013.
