‘Severe’ delays on M1 northbound

There are “severe” delays on the M1 northbound in Northamptonshire due to a traffic collision.

Two (of three) lanes are closed within the roadworks section. Traffic was held in both directions to allow air ambulance to attend, but this has now left scene. Northamptonshire Police remain, along with Highways England traffic officers.

A statement from Highways England said: “For traffic approaching the closure locally, you are advised to expect disruption with extra journey time and may potentially have to re-route your journey.

“If travelling towards this area from further afield, you may wish to change your strategic route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from our on-road Variable Message Signs and media. Traffic heading from London towards the Midlands may wish to consider using the M40 as an alternative route.”
