Heavyweight Nottingham club to re-open

The owners of a Nottingham nightclub who suddenly shut its premises in August are set to re-open later this year – and have applied for a wrestling license.

The Forum, which was based in the Cornerhouse leisure complex in the city centre, will be transformed into a concept called Pom Pom.

EQ Entertainments, which ran The Forum, has applied to extend The Forum’s licensing hours for “films, boxing/wrestling entertainment, live music, recorded music, performances of dance and the sale by retail of alcohol” from 11am until 4am, Monday to Sunday.

The owners of The Forum, Daniel Ellis and Christopher Guest, announced its closure on its Facebook page in August. It was home to some of the East Midlands’ most popular comedy and student nights, including the wildly popular Dirty Mondays club night and the Just the Tonic comedy evenings.

At the time the Forum’s owners said: “After 8 years, 2,500 parties, 1.7 million Jagerbombs, 500,000 bottles of vodka and a whopping 2,200,000 hangovers The Forum is now CLOSED!!

“We’ve had some great times but now the drink is drunk and the brain is shot we’ve decided to call it a night… let’s face facts, it was getting pretty minging in there anyway.

We’d like to thank all our friends and regulars for some unforgettable moments; we’ve won both best and worst club awards over the years so we would like to think at some point we’ve made everyone happy!

“Love it or hate it, the Forum will has been a part of Nottingham’s nightlife history and for that we say… THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT.”

When it closed The Forum had a capacity of 1,000.
