Nottingham hotel owners get green light for residential scheme

Plans to turn the former Probation Service offices in Derby Road in Nottingham into 21 flats have been given the green light by Nottingham City Council.

The building was bought by the owners of the Walton Hotel in Nottingham who run Shoby Investments. It will be developed by Shelton Park Properties

FHP sold the property to Shoby on behalf of Maplezone Investments.

David Shelton, director of Shoby Investments said: “We are looking forward to delivering an imaginative development of iconic 1, 2 and 3 bedroomed apartments to be made available during 2017.”

The news will come as a boost for the Sheltons who recently had plans for an extension to the Walton Hotel in the prestigious Park area of Nottingham refused by Nottingham City Council.

The plans were submitted by Alice Shelton, owner of the nearby Walton Hotel, for a company called Tarry Boutique Hotels and Serviced Apartments.

A management statement as part of the planning application said: “The new rooms are to be used for longer stay guests such as theatre performers and support staff who require self catering facilities or more spacious accommodation but with the benefit of hotel services.”

The City Council said that the plans to change an apartment on Western Terrace into a three-bedroom hotel would create too much noise for nearby residents.
