Newark independent wine shop Ann et Vin is set to close its coffee shop and bar at the end of the year and focus on expanding its retail business.

Wine entrepreneur and owner, Ann Hayes is refocusing her efforts on making Ann et Vin the destination for consumers who appreciate good wine.

Ann said: “After much deep thought and consultation with our customers and consumers, we’ve realised that it’s time for us to go back to basics and focus wholly on offering wines, spirits and liqueurs. As such the coffee shop and bar will be closing from 31st December 2016.

“There’s a huge demand locally for wines that have been independently sourced and recommended based on personal experience – that’s something you can’t really get in a supermarket as they tend to promote the wines they have bought in bulk, which are not necessarily the best examples of the wines available.”

She continued: “By returning to a dedicated wine shop, we’ll be able to increase the breadth of our wine stocks, allowing consumers to enjoy wines that aren’t always available elsewhere, and we’ll also be offering selections of special hand-picked wines for people to discover and fall in love with. Customers can be assured of continued value for money, combined with a smile.”

Ann et Vin is on Castle Gate in the heart of Newark. The shop has been described as “an Aladdin’s Cave of Wine”.
