PR man is city’s new SME champion
PR professional Greg Simpson has been announced as Nottingham’s champion for small business.
Simpson will head-up the city operation of small business support network Enterprise Nation, organising workshops, events and offering local small businesses access to the support and tools they need to grow.
According to statistics from national enterprise campaign StartUp Britain, 2420 new businesses were registered in Nottingham in 2015, making it one of the most entrepreneurial cities in the UK.
Simpson, who runs PR firm Press for Attention in the city, said: “I wanted to become an Enterprise Nation champion to help new Nottingham companies get involved in national campaigns and ensure they are not missing out on links to advisers, practical events, and essential business support.
“While Nottingham is already an important player in the bio tech start-up world and has a thriving entrepreneurial eco-system based at Nottingham University and Nottingham Trent’s Hive, I want to help spread the word that the support is out there, whatever sector you operate in.”
Simpson’s first Enterprise Nation event is called ‘Meet the Journalist’ on 14th April 14, with speakers including Sam Metcalf, editor of the TheBusinessDesk.com and Emma Broomfield, small business writer at the Sunday Times.
The idea of the event is to introduce local business founders to the people who write the news – offering practical tips around how to help get a business featured in the headlines.
