Record year for Alfreton construction firm

Derbyshire firm Wildgoose Construction has posted a record year for profits and turnover.

The firm turned over £49.8m between September 2015 and September 2016, compared to £49.7m the previous year and pre-tax profits were up to £1.1m from £5,397 last year.

The Alfreton-based firm completed its biggest ever project during 2016 with the construction of a new auction centre, workshops, offices and marketing suite for British Car Auctions at a 20-acre site in Birmingham.

There has also been further work secured with pub giant Marston’s as part of a deal with the company under its new build programme, which aims to open 20-25 new pubs a year. New pubs completed include the Six Halts in Clay Cross and the Miners Peg in Skelmersdale.

Other notable contracts secured included a £2.6m refurbishment and extension project for Gleadless School in Sheffield, a £2.7m contract for a retail and commercial project at Chelmonds Cross, Birmingham, for LSP Developments.

Jonathan Wildgoose, executive xhairman of Wildgoose Construction, said: “We have had a very strong 2016 breaking a number of records.

“The view looking forward is also positive. We are starting our second project for British Car Auctions, having completed our largest project to date for them in 2016. This reflects the commitment of our staff and our focus on quality.

“The continued success of our work for Marston’s, our growing workload in the public sector and the successful launch of Wildgoose Homes, all point to a positive future for the company.”
