Selco to expand into Leicester

Builders merchant Selco is expanding into Leicester and will build a 35,000 sq ft on the site of a former business centre.

Selco will build its new outlet on the site of the Forest Business Centre on Parker Drive. The Business Centre will be demolished to make way for the new building on land that it owned by Trafalgar Global.

APB partner Reg Pollock who acted for the owners said: “There has been a distinct shortage of new build units within Leicester city centre in the last few years, and certainly anything of this size. We worked closely with the owners to design a scheme that suited the market and to maximise the potential of the site.”

“The scheme suited Selco as the location of the site, close to the city centre, allows them to provide coverage to their trade customers across the whole of Leicester/Leicestershire and the excellent road network around will provide access for deliveries.”

“Demolition of the existing site will now commence within the first quarter of 2017 and we intend for Selco to be up and trading before the end of the year.”

Mandip Singh from Trafalgar Global said: “We have worked closely with APB to provide a scheme that will work for modern businesses and will be delivered from start to finish on time.”

“We are exceedingly happy to have Selco as a tenant on this site and we look forward to working with them in the future.”

Simon Norton of Colliers International who acted for Selco in the acquisition said: “We are really pleased that the transaction has exchanged and the development will provide Selco with a fantastic trading opportunity in the Leicester area.”

Selco Builders Warehouse is a national builders merchant with stores across the country. It has grown rapidly to become the fourth largest builders merchant in the UK.
