Steak Lounge takes a bigger bite of market with late licence

Steak Lounge, Nottingham’s newest steak restaurant located in Upper Parliament Street, is set to for growth after securing a late licence.

The restaurant, which specialises in steaks, gourmet burgers, seafood and skewers, initially opened without authorisation to sell alcohol, provide entertainment or late night refreshment. However, to expand its offer it became necessary for Steak Lounge to obtain a premises licence to serve hot food and drink beyond 11pm and to serve alcohol.

Walaiti Rathore, a licensing specialist at Fraser Brown, worked with Steak Lounge to obtain a premises licence which allows the sale of alcohol and provision of entertainment and late night refreshment until midnight with a closing time of 00.30am.

Sajad Ali, a director of Steak Lounge, said: “Since obtaining the premises licence we have significantly increased our turnover which gives us options to further invest in the business as well as recruit more staff.

“Walaiti provided a complete and very helpful licensing service which included the Fraser Brown licensing course and help with obtaining my personal licence as well as the premises licence for the restaurant. The licence is not only beneficial to us but for the night time economy in that part of the city.”

Walaiti said: “It was good to work with and help a new business expand its offer which was made possible by working closely with the police and agree a proposal which allowed them to support an application for a premises licence, despite the premises being located in Nottingham City Council’s saturation zone”.
