Three more suspended at Barratt Developments

Coalville-based Barratt Developments has suspended three more people in its London business as part of an ongoing investigation into the potential misconduct in the awarding of contracts, according to reports.

The suspension of the staff, who have not been named, comes after Alastair Baird, the housebuilding giant’s London regional managing director, was arrested with a former Barratt employee by the Metropolitan Police last October.

That followed a referral in April by the listed firm to the Met of the initial findings of an internal investigation which dates back to August 2015.

Barratt Developments has declined to comment on the reports, saying that internal investigations are ongoing.

Earlier this month, the housebuilder reported a profit rise by 7% to £315m for the six months to 31 December 2016.
