TOP restaurateurs and celebrity chefs will gather in Leeds today to celebrate the start of the first Taste of Leeds festival.
The event - held at the showground in Millennium Square, Leeds - starts this afternoon at 5pm.
Taste of Leeds is being billed as the ultimate fine-dining experience, with celebrity chefs, the region's most exciting restaurants, cocktails, champagne and entertainment - all taking part.
Visitors can choose from 12 restaurants, with each chef serving three signature dishes which best demonstrate their culinary skills.
The featured restaurants include The Star Inn, Rajput, Orchid Restaurant, Casa Mia Grande, Anthony's, Room, Brasserie at Malmaison, Hansa's, El Gato Negro, Harvey Nichols Fourth Floor, Chaophraya (Thursday and Friday only) and J Baker's Bistro Moderne(Saturday and Sunday only).
Throughout the four day festival there will be demonstrations where some of the country's most famous chefs will be sharing kitchen secrets, handy hints and tips.
Appearing in the Taste Kitchen will be celebrity TV chef Antony Worrall Thompson and Aldo Zilli.
Visitors can book for one of two ‘sittings' each day, either from midday to 4pm or from 5.30 to 9.30pm, Friday to Sunday.
Rob Eliot, show director for Taste of Leeds, said: "It will be an amazing experience to have so many fantastic and varied chefs creating their finest food right in the heart of the city. Visitors will also have the chance to learn from celebrity chefs, discover local food producers, pick up tips from top class mixologists. Taste of Leeds will be foodies' heaven and Millennium Square will be buzzing for four days."
