Pegasus grows its MIPIM team

After a hugely successful event last year, leading independent consultancy Pegasus Group has grown its team of experts attending this year’s MIPIM event.

The business has taken sponsorship of a number of regional partnerships and the team of 10 specialists were present at many of the regional events throughout MIPIM week.

Highlights of the Pegasus Group presence were talks by economics expert Richard Cook on the challenges faced by significant growth in Liverpool, and the exciting work being carried out in the ‘creative industries’ by Planning Director Chris Calvert.

Richard is based in the company’s Manchester office and leads on the company’s economics-related work. His talk will look at how despite Liverpool’s economy generating more than £30bn per annum in economic output and having grown by almost £2.5bn over the last two years (a bigger rise than Greater Manchester, 4.3% versus 3.3%) Liverpool City Region still faces several challenges.

Chris Calvert set up Pegasus Group’s Leeds office in 2006 and has a wealth of experience across a broad spectrum of planning sectors. With a particular expertise in respect of leisure and tourism, he led on work with clients in the creative industries sector to create new studio infrastructure to meet the growing demand from film and TV production companies.

Projects have included advice on sets for the Sci-Fi film Annihilation, the filming location for the ITV hit series Victoria, as well as Muppets Most Wanted and Humans; the redevelopment of major brownfield sites, scheduled monument consent, planning applications, economic impact assessments and consent for temporary filming studios.

Pegasus Group’s activity kicked off with a welcome drinks reception taking place at Ondine Beach, part of l’Ondines, Cannes, which is a brand new facility for 2019.

The team delivered market-leading advice on many major development projects across the UK. The group’s services span the entire project process from planning through to design and delivery, ensuring optimal results for clients and local communities.

Senior planning director Barry Cansfield, who attended MIPIM last year, said of his return visit this year: “I enjoyed having conversations and sharing ideas and opportunities during my time in Cannes.

“Ultimately, we were all there for the same reason and I am keen to showcase the Pegasus brand as our reputation grows.”

On her first visit to MIPIM, senior heritage director Gail Stoten added: “Heritage is becoming an increasingly important element in the planning environment and I was very much looking forward to attending MIPIM and speaking with individuals and businesses on how we can support them and provide advice.”
