LUXURY Cheshire-based student accommodation developer Vita Student, has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of a managing director.

Gavin Duncan jons the Wilmslow company from collapsed Opal Student, part of the troubled Manchester-based group, where he was operations director.

He will be tasked with achieving a 100% occupancy rate across the Vital’s  five sites, which totals 750 beds.

The business was launched in 2012 by developer Vita Ventures. It has projects in Liverpool, Manchester and Bristol.

Trevor Moore, chief executive of Vita Ventures, said: “We have an aggressive expansion plan for Vita Student, with the aim of doubling our number of student beds in the next year, by targeting new developments in top university cities across the UK.

“Our goal is to give all students the best possible experience by providing fantastic facilities and great service so they will want to stay with us for many years. We believe Gavin has all the necessary expertise and understanding to deliver this.”

Mr Duncan added: “With our forecast growth Vita Student will quickly become known as a leader in the luxury student accommodation market and I intend to ensure that the quality of the management at these developments will match the first-rate facilities.”

Every Vita Student studio apartment has a bedroom, fitted kitchen, en-suite bathroom as well as free high-speed 100MB broadband and a flat screen smart TV.

Mr Duncan is currently overseeing the development of a mobile app that allows students in the same building to create an online community where they can chat, share information and organise social events.
