Ex-CFS boss Anderson joins John Lewis

THE former head of the Co-operative Group’s financial services arm has joined the board of retail group John Lewis Partnership.

David Anderson, who spent more than five years as head of Co-operative Financial Services in Manchester before leading it into a ground-breaking merger with Britannia Building Society in 2009, has joined John Lewis as a non-executive director along with Treasury official and former 3i chairman Baroness Sarah Hogg.

Mr Anderson, who spent 19 years with the Yorkshire Building Society, including seven years as chief executive, is currently on the board of the NFU Mutual Insurance, chairs the think tank Mutuo and the Reclaim Fund.

Charlie Mayfield, dhairman of the John Lewis Partnership, said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Sarah and David to the Partnership Board as our new non-executive directors. Their appointments will bring significant commercial and financial experience to the board as well as a heavyweight external perspective to our decision-making. “

David Anderson said, ‘I’m very excited by the opportunity to contribute to the success story that is the John Lewis Partnership. The Partnership is a powerful business model and has created a special relationship with UK consumers.’
