Scientific testing and analysis company Intertek is to set up a  a European Analytical Testing Centre of Excellence in Manchester.

The firm's North West Technology Centre at Bebington and the Analytical Sciences Group laboratory in Manchester will merge to form one centre at the Hexagon Tower in Blackley, which it acquired from Avecia in 2004.
