Law firms cheer brewer panel appointment

NORTH West legal teams from DLA Piper and Squire Sanders Hammonds have been appointed to brewer Molson Coors’ UK and Irish legal panel.

DLA Piper’s team, led by Manchester partner Graeme Orchison will take the lead on a range of legal issues, including intellectual property, major commercial contracts, health, safety and environment advice and uninsured claims.

Squire Sanders Hammonds will advise the brewing giant, which has its UK base at Burton-on-Trent, on employment and pension law, Rob Elvin is the brewer’s relationship partner.

Sue Albion, legal director and company secretary at Molson Coors, said: “Having a panel of real experts is an exciting opportunity and part of my attempt to ensure that the legal department at Molson Coors properly reflects the priorities and ambition of the company, in particular the development of our portfolio of brands.”

The other firms appointed are: Nabarro’s Sheffield office will work on debt recovery issues, whilst the firm’s London office will advise on competition law; McGrigors will oversee property and tax issues and also deal with Scotland and Northern Ireland-specific legal matters.
