£15m apartment hotel opens

COMPETITION in the Manchester hospitality market has hotted up with the launch of The Light, a £15m apartment hotel.

Designed by Conran architects, The Light, which is located opposite Afflecks Palace in the Northern Quarter, has its sights firmly set on the corporate market.

It has 42 individually-styled apartment plus meeting spaces for up to 12 people. Its showpiece is a penthouse apartment with a hot-tub.The Light is the first venture into the apartment hotel sector by Capitalclimb.

Director Clive Lynton, said: “As a director of a national company I have spent my fair share of time in hotel rooms trying to both work and relax, which isn’t always easy when you’re confined to one room.

“The Light’s mix of boutique hotel and serviced apartment has bridged the gap and offers guests a unique alternative without having to compromise on quality, space or service.

“We firmly believe that once you have stayed in an ApartHotel you’ll never want to go back to single hotel room.”

Although open now, September will see the launch of a 24-hour reception and concierge service, a gymn and meeting rooms.

Paul Simpson, managing director of Visit Manchester, the tourist board for Greater Manchester, said: “The Light is a great addition to the city’s  accommodation offering.

“Its location in the Northern Quarter and high-end style will, I’m sure, make it a hit with the ever-growing number of city-breakers heading to Manchester.”
