Bidder in talks for historic Caldwells

A potential buyer has been found for an historic engineering business whose tools were used to dig the Manchester Ship Canal.
Caldwells Manufacturing, established in 1770, was placed into administration in mid-July when 22 of the 28-strong workforce were made redundant.
It is now in the hands of insolvency specialists from the Manchester office of accountancy firm MCR.
