M&S seal city centre move

RETAIL giant Marks & Spencer is moving 200 back office staff to Spinningfields in Manchester.

The company has signed a 15-year lease to take 21,000 sq ft on the 8th floor at 3 Hardman Street. The staff involved, who work in finance, HR and other non-customer facing roles will begin to move from a site at Salford Quays in the summer.

The deal means that 3 Hardman Street – is now 93% let.

Gary Critchley, head of business services and Information at M&S, said “We are excited to confirm our business service centre will be moving to 3 Hardman Street.

“The building’s innovative design, city centre location and excellent transport links are key to us offering our employees an attractive environment in which to work.”

Michael Ingall, chief executive of Spinningfields’ developer Allied London, added:
“This building is the best office building outside of London and is a great asset for Manchester.

“I suspect it will be a long time before a building of such quality will be developed so I expect it to continue to attract keen tenant interest from those organizations that require an excellent working environment and great amenities for its management and staff.”

3 Hardman Street is already home to law firm Pinsent Masons, accountants BDO, Baker Tilly and PKF, while Bank of New York Mellon, Barclays and the General Medical Council are due to move in later this year.
