North West accountancy firm Mitchell Charlesworth has strengthened its Manchester audit team with the appointment of Adunola Ige as audit manager.

She will oversee a team of eight and be involved in growing the client base as well as ensuring the continued high level of service to clients.

Ige began her career with Tenon, now known as RSM, in Manchester before audit roles with other accountancy practices. She joins Mitchell Charlesworth from Crowe Clark Whitehill and said she is looking forward to the challenges her new role will bring.

She said: “Mitchell Charlesworth has a strong reputation for the attention to detail that is given to each client and the high level of involvement of the partners in each engagement. I was in a senior role before, so I was attracted by the step to manager and the opportunities that come with the position.”

Alison Buckley, partner at Mitchell Charlesworth, said Ige had already become a valuable member of the Manchester team.

“Adunola brings with her a wealth of experience in audit that will be an asset to Mitchell Charlesworth,” she said.

“Already she is proving to be an excellent manager and has taken the lead on several tendering projects so far. I have no doubt that she will play a vital part in the future of the firm as she continues to offer her expertise to our clients.”

Professor Andrew Gale has been appointed the University of Cumbria’s first director of industrial strategy, professional development and skills.

He joins from the University of Manchester’s school of mechanical, aerospace and civil engineering.
His appointment is to facilitate the development of closer ties with industry, recruitment of more students to study apprenticeships and expansion into areas of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

With millions of pounds in investment bringing thousands of new jobs to the county, the university has a pivotal role to play in ensuring the feared skills gap doesn’t materialise.

“The attraction of working for the University of Cumbria is strong for me. The mission of the university aligns strongly with my own sense of educational vocation and values,” said Gale.

“There is a chance to really make a difference in a region of my country that values what I believe in and feel committed too. Over the last three years, working with many colleagues at UoC and industry in the region, I have made very good friendships and shared passion to support the education and development of young people and enhancing the professional development of practitioners.”
He will take up his role on July 3, 2017.

Deloitte Real Estate has announced the appointments of Josaphine Ford as senior surveyor and Heather Foxen as development surveyor to its Manchester office.

Ford arrives from Cushman & Wakefield, where she worked for seven years, latterly as senior consultant, to provide strategic advice to universities, developers and investors on major student accommodation projects across the UK.

At Deloitte, she has joined the UK’s valuation assurance and professional advisory team, where she will provide advisory and assurance services on a wide range of real estate matters to clients on both a national and an international basis.

Foxen has joined the development team advising on a range of public and private sector instructions across the UK and Ireland. She joins from Harworth Group plc where she worked as a development surveyor on key projects such as Waverley, Yorkshire’s largest ever brownfield redevelopment, and Logistics North, the 800-acre manufacturing and distribution park in Bolton.

Simon Bedford, partner at Deloitte Real Estate, said: “Jo and Heather’s appointments come at an exciting time for Deloitte Real Estate and the wider property development market. The region continues to demonstrate enormous potential for growth and, following a record year of construction which has laid the groundwork for a strong pipeline of development, this is set to continue into the years ahead.
