21 jobs lost as coatings firm goes into administration

Coatings specialist Surface Engineers (Manchester) Ltd has gone into administration with the immediate loss of 21 jobs.

The 40-year-old company, based in Dukinfield, Greater Manchester, services the nuclear, oil and gas sectors.

The directors of the company, Andrew and Peter Wild, confirmed that the company had suffered gradual reductions in turnover linked with the decline in oil price.

The company has appointed Nick Lee and Dean Nelson of Midlands-based accountancy and business advisory firm Smith Cooper as administrators.

The administrators are continuing to trade the company for a period with the support of the remaining 12 staff, assisting customers in completing certain projects whilst also seeking interested in the company’s business and assets.

Lee said: “The nature of the company’s skilled workforce and production facilities will hopefully be of interest to others in this sector or parties interested in entering the market.”
