Angel network to appoints Lou as director for the North

Lou Cordwell

AllBright an innovative funding model combining an angel network with a crowdfunding platform and access to supporting services via an academy for female founders, has appointed Lou Cordwell, chief executive of magneticNorth, the Manchester-based digital design studio, as its director of the North.

She will be responsible for hiring and working alongside a team dedicated to financing and supporting female founders in the region.

Cordwell is an established female founder herself having set-up award-winning and internationally recognised, magneticNorth in 2000. She brings more than 20years of business experience to the AllBright team.

Her appointment follows on from research highlighting the huge appetite and potential of female founders in the area, with female-led start-ups in the North West contributing £325m to the economy in 2015.

She said: “I have joined the AllBright team because I want to help unlock the mass of female talent here in the North. As an entrepreneur myself, I know how important a strong network that can provide finance and support is.

“My first task is to set-up a team. Our job will be to spread awareness of AllBright providing finance and guidance to smart women across the North who want to start and scale their own businesses.”

Anna Jones, co-founder of AllBright, said: “Lou is one of the most successful female founders I know and I can’t think of a better person to supercharge our efforts in the region.

“The potential is huge. Stats show that if every woman who wanted to run her own business actually did then we could generate a £10bn boost to UK PLC. Our mission is to help make this happen and empower women from all parts of the UK.”
