BT brings 150 more jobs to region’s call centre

TELECOMS giant BT plans to recruit a further 150 staff to its Warrington and Accrington call centres as part of an initiative to answer 90% of calls from within the UK and Ireland.

The 97new job in Warrington, which will be in both sales and help and service roles in BT customer service, follow 157 contact centre posts already filled at BT’s Warrington contact centre in Europa Boulevard, Westbrook in the last 12 months.

Meanwhile, it is recruiting a further 52 people to its Accrington centre, in addition to the 75 it recruited within the last 12 months.

BT is one of the North West’s largest private sector employers with nearly 9,400 employees based in the region, of which more than 1,300 are in Cheshire and more than 2,200 in Lancashire.

Libby Barr, managing director of BT customer care, said: “They’re joining at an exciting time in our transformation. We are investing millions of pounds improving our systems, providing more training and enhancing our online services. It will result in a better service for our customers and even more rewarding careers for our people. Our Warrington team is an important part of this exciting growth story.”

An open evening will be held at BT’s Warrington contact centre, Europa Boulevard, Westbrook1 on Wednesday April 12 from 6-8pm.
