Leadership training firm gets out of the classroom

Potential Unearthed

A Chorley-based leadership and management trainer is going wild with the offering of a new outward bound training experience at Ormside Mill in Appleby, Cumbria.

Potential Unearthed is offering the training after requests from its clients for an out of classroom experience.

The exercises will include orienteering, mountain biking and kayaking and are designed to improve decision making, team building and problem solving skills.

Mike Ode, joint owner and director of Potential Unearthed, said: “Adding this to our offering was the next logical step for our growth.

“There’s a high demand for this kind of experience and it’ll be great to allow our clients an opportunity to get out of the office and interact with each other elsewhere.

“We see this working really well with remote sales team and the like who need to have great teamwork skills without necessarily being in one place.”

Phil Longbottom, manager at the Ormside Mill, said: “When Potential Unearthed approached me, it seemed like a perfect opportunity.

“I’d been looking for a way to raise The Mill’s profile and interact with businesses to raise funds to support the charity. I know Mike has an excellent reputation and it seemed a good match for our high quality outdoor experience.”

Ormside Mill is a registered charity and has had 8,000 people through its doors since opening in 1999.

The centre traditionally works with youth clubs and schools, providing an opportunity for hard to reach young people to engage with outdoor activities.

A partnership with Potential Unearthed, which is joint-owned by Mike and his wife Sarah Ode, is expected to attract a wider audience in order to support the charity.
