Liverpool-headquartered ER Travel Services has secured a £4m asset finance facility from Barclays Corporate Bank to buy 400 new Vauxhall cars to add to its existing fleet of vehicles.

ER is a vehicle rental business trading as Easirent. Established in Wigan in 1999 with a modest fleet of 15 vans and 6 cars, its headquarters are now on the 9th floor of the iconic Royal Liver Building in Liverpool.

The fleet now totals 2,800 vehicles and includes notable names including Audi, BMW and Mercedes.

The family-run business is the only British-owned car rental company based at most major UK and Ireland airports and currently operates 27 rental branches, employing approximately 260 people. Turnover exceeded £20m last year and is increasing rapidly.

Managing director Paul Hanley said, “Easirent is a thriving business with a reputation for quality, experience and excellent customer service. Our expanding fleet means we can cater for all customer needs and the knowledge and professionalism of our staff is key to helping us do this.

“We are genuinely excited by the prospects for growth in our business and look forward to strengthening our relationship with Barclays as we continue our development in the future.”

Ian Wilby, relationship director for Barclays, said: “Easirent is a very successful, fast growing, low cost vehicle rental business with an excellent track record over the last 18 years. The business has built steadily over the years and this is testament to their business model and the quality of the management team.

“Our specialist knowledge and focus within the contract hire and rental sector enabled us to understand the customer’s requirements, and demonstrate our continued commitment to the sector.  We look forward to a long and successful relationship with this excellent business.”
