Developer ‘reaches for the sky’ with £250m Infinity project

Infinity Project

Planning permission has been granted for developer Elliot Group’s £250m ‘triple towers’ project branded Infinity – on the northern edge of Liverpool’s business district.

The scheme has been given the go ahead at a meeting of Liverpool City Council’s planning committee.

New images of the scheme were released following the committee’s decision.

Three towers, ranging in height from 27, 33 and 39 storeys, will be built on a site on the corner of Leeds Street and Pall Mall and will boast stunning views across Liverpool Bay to Snowdonia and beyond.

The development is the largest single housing project in Liverpool and will offer 1,002 apartments, plus a triple-height luxury spa, gym and pool and more than 10,000sq ft of commercial space.

The tallest of the three towers will stand 436ft above sea level.

Residents of its top floor penthouse will enjoy almost 360 degree views, taking in the Runcorn bridge to the south east, Mount Snowdon to the west and the Lake District mountains to the north.

The plans changed radically from the original outline designs revealed in June last year following a number of design workshops with the city council and the consented proposals will bolster the city’s changing skyline, said Adam Hall of architect Falconer Chester Hall.

“This is Liverpool reaching for the sky, and with a quality that befits such an ambitious place,” he said.
Each of the blocks will be wrapped in two shimmering glazed skins that represent the sun reflecting off the undulating river. The blocks will step up in height towards the business district immediately to the south and extend out dramatically over a podium with sculptured concrete columns.

Elliot Lawless of Elliot Group said he was is proud to be able to contribute to his home city’s development in such dramatic fashion.

He said: “This is a proud moment for me and I’m grateful for the council backing me to develop such a prestigious scheme.  They’ve seen our track record of delivery in recent years and know that when we promise performance and quality, that’s what will happen.

“So much is going on in the north end, with Everton’s new stadium, the Ten Streets initiative and a range of other high quality tower projects.  We’ll have a dramatic cluster to greet our cruise passengers as they approach the Pier Head and the sense of them arriving somewhere confident and special will be palpable.

“With Liverpool considered a front-runner to host the Commonwealth Games the economy is making another step-change.

“This is important as it will keep us on a par with great cities like Manchester and Glasgow, who both hosted the games successfully.”
