Monarch launches three new routes from Manchester

Low cost airline and holiday company Monarch has launched to three new routes from Manchester Airport to Porto in Portugal, Stockholm in Sweden and Zagreb in Croatia.

Monarch is the only airline to fly to the Croatian capital from Manchester Airport. Porto is the fourth destination in Portugal joining Faro, Lisbon and Madeira on the network and this will be the first time the airline has flown to the Swedish capital from Manchester Airport.

The airline will fly to Stockholm and Porto three times a week on a Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Flights to Zagreb with operate twice weekly on a Monday and Saturday. The service was launched on Friday (April 28).

Monarch’s Regional ground operations manager Janet Tideswell was joined by Manchester Airport’s head of aviation development, Robert Smith to celebrate the launch of the first flights.

Tideswell said: “We are delighted to add three new routes to our Manchester programme. We are the only UK airline to fly direct to Zagreb from Manchester Airport and now our customers have three new city break destinations to choose from when flying out of the North West with Monarch.”

Smith said: “It’s great to see Monarch expanding its presence here at Manchester Airport. Porto, Stockholm and Zagreb are three exciting destinations and we’re sure they’ll be hugely popular with our passengers.”
