Former journo launches financial PR agency

Stuart Anderson

A new public relations agency aimed at professional and financial firms has been launched.

Alpha Public Relations has been set up by former journalist and marketer Stuart Anderson.

Prior to founding Alpha Public Relations, Anerson spent five years as head of marketing and communications at Cheshire-based Clarion Wealth Planning and at its sister company, the discretionary investment manager Clarion Investment Management Limited.

Before moving into marketing Anderson was a business and finance journalist, with stints as editor of the national financial services magazines Pensions Age and Continuity Insurance and Risk, and the North West business title EN.

Anderson said: “I have worked in-house, as a journalist and, at the beginning of my career, in PR consultancy, so I really understand of what makes everyone involved tick. My background in business and financial services journalism and marketing also means clients won’t need to spend large amounts of their time and money teaching their PR consultant what they do for a living.

“I know the difference between an MBO, an MBI and a BIMBO, have a passing acquaintance with the Inheritance Tax 14-year trap and can even have a decent stab at a definition of ‘amortisation.’ More importantly, I know why my clients’ clients should care about these things, and how to explain the relevant issues in terms the public understands and enjoys reading.”
