First look inside TraffordCity’s modular hotel

These are the first images from inside the North West’s first hotel to be made entirely from shipping containers, in TraffordCity, Manchester.

The 220-bedroom Holiday Inn Express Manchester – TraffordCity, next to EventCity, will open its doors today and is fully booked for its first weekend of opening.

One of the first Holiday Inn Express hotels in the UK to be built using a new ‘modular’ construction technique, the venue has been built using purpose-built steel shipping containers.

The fully finished interior fixtures and fittings, incorporating full height windows, carpet, wallpaper, ceiling and light fittings were all installed before being delivered to site.

Peter de la Perrelle, managing director of Tower Hotel Management, operators of the new hotel, said: “This has been a fantastic project for Tower Hotel Management to see through from its conception to launch, and, as the official partner hotel for EventCity, and being next door to intu Trafford Centre, there’s already a strong demand for beds.

“EventCity has some huge shows coming up this year and we’ve been taking bookings well ahead of opening, with a full house for our first weekend.”

The hotel is a project by the joint venture, Topland Group, Marick Capital and Mill Lane Estates. Tower Hotel Management, part of the Peel Group, has been awarded the management contract to operate the new Holiday Inn Express hotel at TraffordCity, Manchester.

Located on a 1.75 acre site at EventCity, the hotel is the official partner for the events venue.
