Forrest starts £4.2m homes scheme in former quarry

Bolton contractor Forrest has started on site to deliver 37 new homes in New Mills, Derbyshire for The Guinness Partnership.

The £4.2m scheme will be known as ‘Marsh Mills’ and will provide homes for rent, shared ownership and outright sale.

Some 62% of the new properties are affordable.

It is the first land-led development deal for Forrest which has been developing the new offering over recent months.

The brownfield site is a former quarry, and planning permission was granted in January for the development, with full support from High Peak Borough Council.

Emphasis will be the speedy delivery of the new homes, which will see the project completed inside 14 months.

Forrest development director Ted Macdougal said: “We are delighted to have commenced our first land-led development project. We’re confident it will be the first of many.

“Guinness was the obvious partner for us to work with here as they have existing homes in the area and Homes and Communities grant to spend in the Borough.”

Guinness development director Allan Ramsay said, “I’m really pleased work has begun on this important housing development.

“We’re making the best use of what was a disused site and I’m confident future buyers and tenants will be delighted by the family homes Forrest is building for us.”
