Northern ‘warmth’ playing part to family law firm’s stellar performance

Unique northern qualities of warmth and empathy are contributing to family law firm Vardags’ outstanding performance since it launched its Manchester office exactly a year ago.

Annual turnover for the limited company, non-limited liability practice, has already reached £2m as every monthly billing figure reached six figures.

According to director Emma Gill the “friendly force” leading the team of 10 at the King Street office, the revenue of the company has already surpassed what was initially projected in three years after opening in the city.

It’s 12 months since the Salford-born professional arrived from Manchester law firm Laytons where she spent 12 years, training and eventually rising to partner.

“It’s been awesome,” the 37-year-old told TheBusinessDesk. “We’re bursting with clients and it will not be long before we are going to be recruiting again.”

Vardags started off with offices in London and Winchester, where the founder Ayesha Vardag is from. The company opened office in Cambridge in August and Newcastle opened at the beginning of 2017.

Gill went on: “Our unique selling point is that we offer quality branded service, but they (Vardags) put local people in.

“Clients get London quality service but at Manchester prices and from Manchester people. I think that makes a real difference. It’s about authenticity, especially with family law, because its so personal.

“I’ve got a two-year-old child. I know how hard it is to go back to work when you’ve got children.

“It’s about understanding them (the clients) and where they come from. Northerners are different any way.”
