5 things to do in the North West

Manchester Day
Manchester Day returns to the city on Sunday. The annual event aims to celebrate everything great about the city and is the perfect opportunity for all walks of life to come together and celebrate. This year’s theme is Abracadabra and is set to be the biggest one yet. As well as the parade, that begins on Liverpool Road at 1pm, there will also be a range of performances and plenty of food and drink in Manchester’s city centre squares. Find out more here.

Africa Oyé 2017
Popular event Africa Oyé 2017, which takes place at Liverpool’s Sefton Park, returns this weekend. The event, which is the UK’s largest free celebration of African music and culture, features a huge line-up to enjoy, alongside a wide range of street food to enjoy, bars and a kids’ area where children of all ages can get involved in free music, dance and art workshops. Summer Arts Market
Merseyside’s largest arts and crafts market returns to Liverpool Cathedral on Saturday. The Summer Arts Market is set to bring together over 200 of the region’s best artists, designers and makers. Visitors can find everything from cards and glassware to jewellery, prints, textiles and beauty products. There will also be a Vintage Fair taking place, as well as a food fair. Find out more here.

Medieval Fayre
Head along to Tatton Park in Knutsford for The Medieval Fayre. The event is set to have hundreds of re-enactors and over 40 traders and artisans. There will also be food and ale to enjoy as well as live music and entertainment. Visitors can also check out fine fabrics, artefacts as well as enjoy watching archers, gunners, falconers and mercenaries. Find out more here.

Hans Zimmer
Hollywood’s most in demand composer Hans Zimmer is bringing his show to Liverpool’s Echo Arena this weekend. He is set to be joined onstage with his 15-piece studio band, along with an orchestra and choir to bring a range of his most well-known scores to life, including Gladiator, The Lion King, Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Dark Knight Trilogy and Inception.
