Law firm, Gateley has announced the promotion of 10 lawyers in its Manchester office, including three to partner.

The promotions span its corporate, construction, employment, pensions, private client, real estate and commercial dispute resolution teams.

Stuart Evans (pensions), Stephen Roberts (corporate) and Hayley Sullivan (construction) have been made partner, and Nicola Richardson has been promoted to legal director.

In addition to this, Nick Murills (commercial dispute resolution), James Seed (commercial dispute resolution) and Heather Aust (employment) have been promoted to senior associate, while Katie Mindurski (real estate), Laura Bywater (private client) and Leigh Whittaker (corporate) have been promoted to associate.

Rod Waldie, head of Gateley’s Manchester office, said: “After an incredibly busy year, it’s great to announce that 10 lawyers have been promoted in our Manchester office. Every individual has contributed to the success of the firm and their promotion is very much deserved.”

The promotions mark the end of a busy financial year for Gateley, in which the firm has hired 10 new partners.

Energy industry leader Paul Taylor has joined Warrington-based Energy’s governance panel.

Energy, which is headquartered in Birchwood, is one of the top 10 business energy procurement and management consultancies in the UK, managing around 3,000 gas and electricity supply contracts worth nearly £1bn.

Magnus Walker, director of trading and risk management at Energy, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Paul to our Governance Panel, which is responsible for agreeing and overseeing energy purchasing strategies and risk limits to protect client interests.  Paul brings with him extensive trading experience from well-known and reputable industry suppliers, which will be invaluable.”

Taylor, who was formerly chairman of Haven Power board director of Drax Group,  said: “I am delighted to join Energy’s Governance Panel. As an external and independent stakeholder, my focus will be on closely monitoring the current and future flexible product range on behalf of clients.”

Cheshire-based brand communications agency Bugler Smith taken on two new recruits.
Emily Riley has joined as an account manager in the marketing and events team, while Hollie Hines will bolster the continued growth in PR and social at the agency.

HInes has relocated from London after spending more than five years looking after clients in the finance sector, while Emily’s experience includes time at Portfolio and Blue Chip Marketing.

The privately-owned business, based in Lymm, which has more than doubled in size in the last 12 months, works for clients including Pets at Home, Vets4Pets, Rentalcars.com and LCCC.

The Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester has appointed Sorana Cernea as front office manager and Shani Grisdale as groups coordinator.

The growing team follows the previous appointment of Michael Hewson as general manager late in 2016, and sales manager Janice Barrington-Wood earlier this year.

Cernea began her career at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Romania, and has since worked as office manager with Wyndham Days Inn & Suites in California, and as a supervisor at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Manchester city centre.

Similarly, Grisdale has amassed a broad experience following three years in Italy at IC Bellagio, before joining the pre-opening Team at Hotel Football in 2014 as groups and reservations agent.

Cernea said: “I’m so excited to join Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford at what is a stunning and iconic venue. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join what is already shaping up to be a fantastic team.”

Talent mapping and pipelining specialist Armstrong Craven has appointed a new global client partner to its healthcare and life sciences division.

Jordi Pastor returns to Hale, Greater Manchester-headquartered company having previously started his career with the firm as a researcher 17 years ago. He subsequently went on to hold a number of senior positions with organisations in the UK and Europe.

His new role will see him focus on medtech, biotech and private investors.

Armstrong Craven carries out talent mapping, pipelining and insight assignments for many of the biggest global brands in the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector.

Olivia Wynn, Armstrong Craven’s practice director for healthcare and life sciences, said: “We are delighted that Jordi has returned to the business. He is highly regarded for his knowledge of the sector and deep understanding of the individual motivations and aspirations of key talent.
