McDonald’s launches first new restaurant in Liverpool for more than a decade

Fast-food specialist McDonald’s has opened its new restaurant in Liverpool for more than 10 years, creating 100 jobs.

It has launched the eatery at the new development at the £150m Greater Homer Street, also known as Project Jennifer.

The opening is part of a regeneration scheme that will bring a new supermarket, shops, homes and improved public spaces to North Liverpool.

Mark Blundell local franchisee who owns and operates five restaurants in Liverpool, and will be opening his sixth at Great Homer Street said: “I understand the importance of investing in the community and I’m delighted to be able to bring an employment boost to the local area with 100 new jobs in Liverpool.

“With excellent training programmes and career opportunities on offer to all of our employees, I hope the roles will appeal to a broad spectrum of people across the city.

“I started my career working over 20 years ago, so I am proof that a career with McDonald’s offers plenty of opportunity to progress.

“Before becoming a franchisee I worked my way up through the management chain, before taking on various roles in our head office in London finally becoming head of HR operations for McDonald’s in the UK and now five years on, I’m proud to be franchisee of my own restaurants.”
