Seddon lands £2.2m contract to build homes

Bolton-based builder and developer Seddon has been awarded a £2.2m contract to deliver a new housing development in Hyde, Greater Manchester.

The £200m turnover firm has been appointed by the Greater Manchester-based housing association, New Charter Homes, to build 24 properties at a site on Johnsonbrook Road.

The contract was won by competitive tender through the Innovation Chain North West, a framework for construction contractors and associated professional services.

New Charter Homes, part of the New Charter Group, owns and manages more than 19,500 properties in the Greater Manchester and Nottingham areas.

The modern and energy efficient two and three bedroom family homes will provide much needed affordable housing for the local area.

Work on the scheme is now underway, and is set to be completed by summer 2018.
Peter Bacon from New Charter Homes said: “Seddon has delivered a number of high quality schemes for us in the past, including three in Ashton-under-Lyne in the last few years, so we are really excited to be working with them again to increase the number of affordable homes we can make available to Hyde residents.”

Duncan Williams from Seddon said: “It’s fantastic to be working with New Charter Homes again. We understand how important quality homes are to individuals, families and communities and we use our expertise to provide housing which will enhance many people’s lives.”
