A well-known Lake District inn has attained five-star status from AA Hotel & Hospitality Services.

The Wild Boar Inn Grill & Smokehouse at Crook near Windermere has been awarded the highest rating in recognition of its hospitality excellence following an AA inspection in July.

The inn, which is run by English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, has won praise for overall improvements in terms of AA quality standards over the past few years, including services and facilities and five critical benchmarks of quality: cleanliness, hospitality, bedrooms, bathrooms and breakfast. Five star status required an overall score of more than 85%.

The AA’s inspection report stated that its overall scoring for the venue’s bedrooms and bathrooms ‘is comfortably achieving at five star level’ and more widely that it is offering ‘excellent quality and facilities to ensure this is a unique product in the local market’.

“Attaining the five-star standards set by the AA is a real boost for the inn and our team here,” said Adam Bujok, manager of The Wild Boar.

“The latest inspection was very detailed in its assessment. The team is delighted to move up to five star, but we also recognise there is scope to grow into this award and maintain progress with even greater consistency of service and further improvements to hospitality for our guests.”

Other positive highlights of the latest AA assessment included smooth booking and welcoming procedures, well serviced bedrooms and bathrooms refurbished to modern standards, very good dining choices, effective table management, superbly well-maintained grounds and gardens and smart check out with no undue delay.
