The new fundraising platform Wonderful.org, has announced former England, Manchester United and Everton footballer Phil Neville and his wife Julie are backing the organisation’s inaugural fundraising event ‘The Wonderful Week’, to launch in September.

The Nevilles are throwing their support behind the philanthropic organisation – the only fundraising site which channels 100% of donations to charities.

The couple will be encouraging participants to join the virtual fundraising event taking place from September 2 to 10, encouraging people to clock up the miles or bake a cake all in the name of their own chosen charity and with the guarantee that all donations will go to the intended cause.

The Neville family themselves have pledged to cover a distance of 100 miles through swimming, cycling and running, to raise much needed funds for The Good Life Orphanage – a charity committed to providing safe and secure homes for orphaned and abandoned children in Kenya.

Julie, who will be posting progress updates on Twitter from September 2, said; “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to do something wonderful for The Good Life Orphanage by taking part as a family in the inaugural Wonderful Week, keeping us fit and raising some much-needed funds.

“As well as raising money for children who need it, we want to make more people aware of the fundraising options available. It is now possible, through Wonderful, to maximise fundraising efforts and ensure that all donations go to the intended cause.”

Phil added: “We’d like to encourage others to join us in this fundraising initiative and do something wonderful for a charity close to their own hearts.”

Wonderful.org was launched earlier this year as part of a continued crusade by businessman Kieron James to make millions more pounds for charities. The platform is free from administration costs and card processing fees thanks to the support of corporate sponsors.

Kieron James, founder of Wonderful.org, said: “In this day and age, the five per cent administration fees charged by fundraising sites like JustGiving, plus payment card processing fees, seem like a high price for charities to pay. We charge nothing at all, make no deductions from Gift Aid and through the generosity of corporate sponsors, we cover all debit and credit card transaction fees.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Phil and Julie for the Wonderful Week, working towards our shared goal of raising more money for worthy causes like the Good Life Orphanage.”

Mary Maguire, founder of the Good Life Orphanage added: “Since founding the Orphanage in 2008, we now have over 50 children in our care, with the number continuing to grow – so we are looking forward to receiving 100% of donations made through The Wonderful Week. Every penny really will make a difference to these children’s lives.”
