Wacky ale fans in for a treat at Mad Hatter Brewery party

Ale fans who are looking for something a little different are in for a treat on August Bank Holiday weekend, as Liverpool’s biggest brewery Mad Hatter is hosting their first summer party in celebration of their recent success.

Taking place on Saturday, August 26 at the brewery’s new home on Lightbody Street in North Liverpool, the brewery is encouraging locals to fall down the rabbit hole in Mad Hatter style. The event is the perfect opportunity for ale drinkers who dare to be different.

The brewery has gained a reputation for creating some of the UK’s wackiest ales and they will be available to enjoy at the party.

As well as the Mad Hatter 8 tap craft beer bar serving Penny Lane Pale, Toxteth IPA, Nightmare on Bold Street and Tzatziki Sour, there will also be the launch of new beers Golden Deliciousness and Say Hello Wave Goodbye, which is a coffee beer and the last one that was brewed at their old premises.

There will also be a beer cocktail, which is made with their Tzatziki Sour, Turncoat Gin and prosecco. Dead Crafty Beer Company will also be at the event with its own bar and beer from Hawkshead, Northern Monk; Swedish breweries and others.

Beer Heroes will aso be there with its curated bar offering visitors a whole host of ales, from Beerbliotek Crazy in Coconut 6.8% IPA, Celery Sour, Kees Strawberry Fields 6% Oatmeal Stout, Buxton Kingslayer 8% DIPA, Mad Hatter Beer of Paradise and Mad Hatter Sichuan Saison.

For non ale fans, there will also be a gin bar.

The party is in celebration of the brewery’s success. Since its launch more than four years ago, where they started out with just a thousand pounds and a credit card.

Sue Starling, director of Mad Hatter Brewing Company, is hoping that the event will be the start of many more from the company. She said: “We are holding the event to act as a springboard for regular events at the brewery tap. We will be open on a regular basis from spring next year.

“We’ve grown exponentially since our inception 4 and a half years ago, and have funded our expansion from tiny 100 litre kit to our current 20bbl kit (3000 litre kit) through investing profits back in the company and a loan from Merseyside Investment Fund along with some asset finance.

“We started just at the right time, and caught people’s imaginations with our crazy beers and gained loyal customers. In the future we plan to grow our brand and expand our reach.”

The event will also have many food options available from local producers, including food from local cafe Sans Café, cakes and brownies from Liverpool Cake Company, ice cream from Gelato on Lark Lane and many more burgers, hot dogs and a range of vegetarian and vegan options.
