Apartments near city centre get thumbs up

Plans for a residential development on Brunswick Street close to Manchester city centre have been approved.

Developer Generation has named the scheme of 16 new apartments New Brunswick.

Some of the homes have already been snapped up by local buyers, ahead of the scheduled start to work on site before the end of the year. The construction period will be twelve months.

Located close to all the main Manchester universities and main hospital campuses, the site is less than 10 minutes’ walk (or one bus stop away) from Piccadilly rail station. Local landmarks include the Grade II-listed Apollo O2 theatre and Ardwick Green.

Shehzad Chaudhri, director at Generation, said: “New Brunswick is one of a number of sites that Generation is looking at close to the city centre. We hope to be in a position to make further announcements in the coming months.”

Ollier Smurthwaite Architects designed the scheme and Paul Butler Associates were the planning consultants.

Generation is the developer of the iconic Toast Rack site at the former Manchester Metropolitan University Hollings campus site in Fallowfield, South Manchester.
