Law firm JMW Solicitors has advised the South African Premier Soccer League on a sponsorship deal worth £30m.

It advised on a further five year sponsorship deal of the PSL league with bank Absa, a subsidiary of Barclays Bank, taking the partnership to 15 years.

The 2017/18 South African Premier Soccer League season kicked off on Friday 18 August.

Mike Blood, head of corporate at JMW, worked alongside PSL chairman and owner of the Orlando Pirates Irvin Khoza, as well as their in-house counsel to help secure the deal.

He said: “I have been lucky enough to have acted for the league for over 10 years now and I am pleased to see that the sponsorship partnership with Absa has been a long and successful one. I am sure the 2017/18 PSL season will be extremely competitive and successful for all involved.”
