Data centre business goes in administration

Mike Kelly founder of Datacentred

DataCentred Limited, a Salford-based data centre and cloud storage business, has gone into administration.

Anthony Collier and Geoff Rowley, partners at FRP Advisory were appointed as joint administrators yesterday (August 22).

They are seeking buyers for the MediaCity-based business and assets while it continues to trade and are retaining all 15 staff.

DataCentred, has traded for four years, operating both a physical data centre and cloud business. It was founded in 2012 by Dr Mike Kelly, a pioneer in the data centre sector – financial backers have included The Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Jon Moulton.

Administrators said that despite some notable client wins, the business remained loss making and is not viable in its current form.

However, they plan to allow the business to continue to trade whilst restructuring options are explored and have begun to engage with interested parties in the business and assets as part of an on-going marketing process.

Collier said: “Over its four year trading history, DataCentred has earned a well-deserved reputation for its expertise and has supported a significant network of clients.

“We are marketing the business and assets for sale and we encourage any interested parties to make early contact”.
