Traffic Alert: M6 in Cheshire closed in both directions following crash

The M6 is closed in both directions between J18 (Middlewich/Holmes Chapel) and J19 (Tabley) in Cheshire following a serious incident which has occurred on the northbound carriageway.

The northbound diversion route is available following the hollow triangle diversion symbol from J18.

Traffic leaves the J18 roundabout and joins the A54 heading westbound towards Middlewich. At the roundabout junction with the B5309 traffic proceeds north on the B5309 until it meets the A530.

Proceeding north on the A530 this road meets the A556 at Broken Cross. Finally traffic may join the A556 and head east which returns traffic to M6 J19. The southbound is the reverse of this route following the solid black circle route.

There are long delays for both directions and motorists are being advised to consider alternative routes and should allow extra time for their journey.
