Success of tissue adhesives brand puts AMS on front foot

The strong performance of Cheshire wound care specialist Advanced Medical Solutions’ LiquiBand tissue adhesives product has been a major contributor to impressive first half-year results.

Revenue is up 17.9% (8% on a constant currency basis) to £45.9m, in the period to June 30.

Meanwhile, pre-tax profits have risen 27% to £11.4m (H1 2016: 9m).

AMS chief executive Chris Meredith said: “Sales of LiquiBand are strong in all main markets. All of our brands have made good progress and have shown improved performance as a result of our marketing initiatives.”

Sales of LiquiBand alone are up 40% to £13m while US revenues have risen 52% to £9.1m with the company’s market share increasing to 24%.

Its RESORBA branded products sales are up 20% to £10.3m and its antimicrobial dressings turnover is up 19% to £9.7m.

Meredith said the Winsford company’s board was optimistic at meeting its expectations for the full year.

He added: “We remain optimistic about our organic growth prospects and our innovative R&D pipeline and continue to closely monitor and evaluate acquisition opportunities to capitalise on our strong financial and strategic position.”
