McCauls makes progress at Warehaus Ancoats
Developer McCauls has completed the first phase of steel at its Warehaus Ancoats development on George Leigh Street in its home city, Manchester.
The 32-unit scheme of loft style conversions, large apartments and town houses is aimed at local owner occupiers.
It retains the site’s historic German Warehouse with new elements at four storeys and six storeys enclosing a central landscaped courtyard for use by residents.
Director Joe McCaul said: “Progress on site is going very well with the steel for the lower block on George Leigh Street now complete and work on the historic building underway in tandem.
“It is a small development but we have worked hard with OMI Architects to ensure it offers a range of distinct accommodation – a choice often missing from larger scale schemes. We are very happy about bringing new front doors back to the historic streets.
“And it is aimed directly at owner occupiers – people who want to invest in a property to live in not to let out.
“There are no gimmicks just thoughtful design, good outside amenity and lots of choices for the interiors so buyers can personalise their space and call it home.”
Sales will launch next month with completion scheduled for late summer 2018.
Prices have yet to be released.
The old warehouse was once the home of J & T Thorp which manufactured solid wooden toys that were dispatched across Europe in the early 1900s.
It took its name from German Street which was renamed Radium Street after WWI.
It has most recently been used for storage.
McCaul added: “This is a scheme we have nurtured from the start and we are very excited to be at this stage with new buildings coming out of the ground and sales about to launch.”
