A charity silent auction with the headline prize of a five-a-side football match with the iconic Class of 92 has entered its last 24 hours ahead of a city-wide banquet.

The Tim Bacon Foundation, established in memory of restaurant entrepreneur Tim Bacon, is offering nearly 40 prizes out for auction as part of its Dream the Impossible event, which includes the world’s first multi-restaurant charity dinner.

The auction formally closes at 9pm today (Thursday, September 21), and prizes to be awarded include a Barcelona city break with a VIP vineyard tour; dinner for 40 at Manchester House; a personal dinner with world-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay; ultimate match-day experiences at either Manchester club; return private jet flights to a range of European destinations.

The sold-out event will aim to raise £500,000 in one night for The Tim Bacon Foundation’s inaugural appeal for Christie’s Proton Beam Therapy and Maggie’s Centres, which provide much needed care for cancer patients.

Bacon, co-founder of the Living Ventures Restaurant empire, is credited with transforming Manchester’s dining scene, but passed away in September, 2016.

The Class of 92 is the group of Manchester United footballers David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Paul Scholes who famously came through the ranks to become major stars in the game simultaneously and returned the glory days to the Old Trafford club.
