Passengers travelling in the Liverpool City Region are being urged to plan their journeys and check before they travel ahead of RMT strike action on both the Merseyrail network on and Northern services on Tuesday, October 3 and Thursday, October 5.

Most Merseyrail services are planned to run every half hour from around 7am to 7pm, with a break in service between 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Fifteen minute services will be maintained between 7.30am and midnight between Liverpool South Parkway (LSP) and Liverpool Central, as LSP will be the mainline rail hub during the Lime Street station upgrade work (September 30 to October 22).

Passengers are being advised to check the Merseyrail website and Twitter feed before travelling, as it is possible that timetables will change prior to, as well as during, strike action.

Meanwhile, passengers who travel with Northern are also advised to check before they travel as Northern is planning on running limited services between 7am and 7pm on October 3 and 5. More information will be available soon.

Northern trains are the only mainline rail services affected by strike action in the Liverpool City Region. However, all mainline rail services will be seeing changes between September 30 and October 22 as a result of the Lime Street upgrade.
