Veggie restaurant is latest addition to King Street cluster

1847

Vegetarian restaurant group 1847 has opened the doors to its bigger, brand-new Manchester restaurant, joining Grafene and Mango Bean Coffee at 55 King Street.

The outlets sit within Orbit Developments’ property portfolio in the centre of the city

The national restaurant group 1847 specialises in plant based, vegetarian cuisine and has developed a cult following from food enthusiast’s due to the high quality and fresh ingredients served in the Scandinavian inspired restaurants.

Damien Davenport, managing director for 1847, said: “1847 has been a staple on the Manchester dining scene since 2011.

“2016 was our most successful year and we’re thrilled that our new location on King Street allows us to push our offering to the next level.

“Our new site offers a full botanical cocktail bar with bar snacks, a 60-cover restaurant plus a private dining room seating up to 35 people will launch later this year.

“Our larger kitchen and storage facilities will allow us to offer more choice and continue our mission to push the boundaries of meat free dining.

“Kevin Rivers heads up our kitchen as head chef, plus we’ve recruited mixologists for the bar and experienced waiters for the restaurant. I’m also thrilled some of the team from our old site and come back to us.”

Leasing surveyor for Orbit Developments, Mark Hanna commented on the deal: “The area is unrivalled in terms of its high-quality food and drink offering, boasting the likes of Hotel Gotham, Rosso, Grafene, Grand Pacific, Rock and Rye and new Japanese restaurant Taberu all within a couple of minutes’ walk from one another.”

Hanna continued: “2017 has seen a resurgence of exceptional restaurants opening along King Street and 1847 is another fantastic name to add to that list. They are the only restaurant focusing on quality vegetarian cuisine in the area so I have no doubts over their future success.”

1847 is joining restaurant Grafene at 55 King Street, which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary with a lawn party complete with outdoor gin bar and terrace in conjunction with the King Street Food and Drink Festival.

Grafene welcomed new chef Stephen Moore in early 2017 who worked at Hotel Gotham and at 3 AA-rose restaurants under Aiden Byrne and Matt Worswick before moving to the British restaurant Grafene.

In 2016, niche coffee shop MangoBean Coffee also opened its doors at 55 King Street.

The quirky fit-out and fun menu provides great quality coffee and variety of lunch options in addition to decadent treats including freshly made waffles and ice cream.

Grafene, Mango Bean and 1847 were all let during Savills instruction and just two retail units now remain at 55 King Street.
